My bloodhound Clyde is 9 months old and we have had him since he was 8 weeks old, my son is 6 with autism and has really never been close to any animal and really would ignore Clyde, well tonight I was almost in tears bc I just watched a special moment between them! Clyde was laying down on the couch chewing on his stuffed animal and my son walked up and just started petting him on his head then his tummy and so forth! Clyde is usually very active and bouncing all over the place but when my son started petting him Ive never seen Clyde soo calm! He would just stare at my son and it almost seemed like he knew there was something wrong with him. My son and Clyde shared that bond for 20 minutes and I honestly couldnt be more proud of the both of them! In tears as I write this:) Yes bloodhounds really do make great pets to those with special needs:)
