“My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, - TopicsExpress

“My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man, “You stand there,” or, “Sit here at my footstool,” have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?” James 2:1-4 “For there is no respect of persons with God;” Romans 2:11 We are human, so we have a tendency to show partiality and favor to those we tend to identify with or favor over the rest for one reason or another. But truth is, this is judging with evil intent; and thus is wrong. God is not a respecter of persons, therefore He expects us to be the same. Because we are not all knowing and lack perfect discernment, we can misjudge someone based on our own criteria, and miss the mark all together in what we intended to accomplish. A man walks in an interview room with wrinkled khakis and a suit coat that doesn’t match. Immediately the interviewer disregards the candidate. Next walks in a well dressed gentleman who looks well put together. After a brief conversation, he gives the man the job. Later, out of curiosity, he glances over the applications and resumes of the prospects he interviewed that day, only to discover; his candidate with the wrinkled khakis was a retired decorated marine down on his luck, and his hired candidate hasn’t held a job for more than a month and has a criminal record for theft. Be mindful of judging with partiality and bias intentions. It’s never a good basis to build on.
