My brief attempt at math today... Voyager 1 is now about 17 light hours and 20 light minutes away from Earth. It is the first man-made object to reach interstellar space. Voyager 1 was launched slightly more than 36 years ago. At that rate, it will reach one light day away roughly 49.86 years after launch. Therefore travelling one light year would take 18,197 years. Proxima Centauri, the nearest star, is 4.243 light years away. It would take a Voyager 1 like craft approximately 77,210 years to reach Proxima Centauri.
