My brother, David Benjack, recently gave the commencement speech at a terrific private school in Virginia, The Williams School. The school itself is an institution that teaches the characteristics of Listening Deeply: being authentic, courageous, connected, aligned, and accountable. My brother embodies them, too. In his speech he quoted the famous runner, Steve Prefontaine who said, “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” Every day I ask you to ask yourself: have I sacrificed my gift today or have I joyfully used it for great things and to lift up others?
