My brother Sam is right about this, it is a must-read. I think we probably have differing opinions on the implications of it - (I dont think it has anything at all to do with whether or not Obamacare is a good thing - which I still think it basically is, though in need of some major fixing) - but it brings up points of vital interest, especially for journalists, but also for anyone in the interested electorate. I think it does a good job of describing an endemic problem that affects everyone in our government, from either side of the aisle, and also the people from all points on the political compass who report on what the government (or corporations, or political parties or anyone else) gets up to. And I dont see anyone currently in politics who is honestly trying to do anything about this. For that matter, Im not sure it is possible to do anything about this. The only thing to be done is to approach everything and anything that any politician, corporation or organization says with a healthy dose of skepticism. When I was a journalist I always thought that was an important part of my job.
