My church sign calendar today says: A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small package. God says: James 2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. What God tells us is that apart from Him we are nothing. We are born into sin and need forgiveness and Gods power & grace in order to have life and the hope for eternal life with Him in Heaven. When we humble ourselves to God as well as to others, God receives all the glory. We all need help in honoring God and being humble as we fight the urge to boast in our own accomplishments.
