My church sign calendar today says: Instead of showing someone the gate, try mending the fence. What does God say: Mark 12:31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven. Hebrews 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. 1 Peter 3:9-11 Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. Ephesians 4:15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, Obviously a tall order for us sinful humans. Thank God literally that we have Jesus, but if we truly love and trust God for everything then we can strive to live our lives closer & closer to what God desires.
