My church sign calendar today says: Life is short. Pray - TopicsExpress

My church sign calendar today says: Life is short. Pray hard. Psalm 145:18 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 23:1-6 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his names sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ So when we pray we draw near to God. When we are close to God we know His wants & desires for us. The peace & comfort He gives us drives us to want to serve and honor Him as much as humanly possible. When we serve God the power of the Holy Spirit fills our soul and grows our faith. Faith in turn causes us to give thanks to God in prayer, and the cycle continues. It all starts with prayer! If God is calling you in your prayers to serve others and to grow His Kingdom then may I suggest trying P.A.C.K. (Planned Acts of Christian Kindness). This is a free program based on the idea of giving a simple gift or service to people in your community and letting them know that this a is a taste of what Jesus freely gave so that we may have life and life eternal in Heaven.
