My classmates, friends and family who are and have been teachers will fall off their chairs chuckling at me with this post. The class I teach is basic news writing and today was all writing. No chatting, book review or tests. Sooo. . .i handed out data sheets pulled from real press releases and passed them out. In one of the press releases, I changed the description of the suspect from a young male to an older female. Yep, me. I wore to class what the suspect was wearing. Just curious to see if anyone was really paying attention. Papers were passed out, lots of chatter when all of a sudden one student goes, Wait. The suspect. Woman in 50s/60s. Wearing khakis and a blue shirt. Hair pulled back . . . Youre the suspect!!!! I was over the moon!! Bingo, Alex! You noticed. Good job! Teaching them how to pay attention to detail has been tough, frustrating. That moment may have made the past few weeks worth it.
