My complaint about the gold Apple Watch: its an expensive body in a piece of hardware that wont last. Think of it: you buy a Rolex, you buy a Patek Philippe, you buy a Breitling, you buy a Jaeger LeCoultre, you buy an A.Lange & Sohne, and youre buying a hand-crafted mechanical device made of gold and silver and precious metals which, if taken care of properly will last your lifetime, and which you can pass down to your heirs, who may appreciate your watch as a piece of fine mechanical art. Or they may auction it off on E-Bay and make a nice little chunk of change. Whatever. But the gold Apple Watch? After a few years, its just out-dated technological crap wrapped in a couple of ounces of precious metal. Twenty years from now itll just be like enshrining a turd in gold plating. Im not suggesting the Apple Watch isnt worth the purchase; I think it is, and I plan to get a sports version when it arrives. But to make one in gold, I think, misses the mark on why people buy a luxury watch in the first place.
