My concerns about this project have nothing to do with the economic benefits or jobs or life style, the simple point im making is why the hell would anyone in their right mind build on a tidal river flood plain.Where the hell is the water going to go if u remove the flood ponding area? After the devastation we all saw in the Brisbane floods it is ridiculous to yet again take on nature cause we all know who will win.The scenario is so easily painted, normal wet season rain fall fills lake Tinaroo something we luckily havent seen in a while, now once that catchment has reached peak we get a little more rain combine that with a spring tide and u all ready have a severe flood situation ,then add a cyclone to the mix and we will see a flood disaster in communities like Machans Beach,Holloways Beach,Yorkeys , etc etc unlike any we have seen before. If the rumours are true Michael Trout the local member is the guy who sold the land to Fung ,the state gvt has called it a joint venture and have commissioned JCU to do the EIS survey its all starting to look like a massive spin job especially when the media coverage has been limited to the Gvt run ABC and the Cairns post who seem unusually positive in all their reports.I think the artist who did the impressions of the resort must have run out of brown and ochre when he did his drawings cause that water is certainly not going to remain blue once the Barron River Delta lives up to its name...
