My country Ethiopia has unreserved legal right to use her natural resources including the blessed water that the Ethiopian ABAY RIVER generates. The ABAY RIVER itself regrets too much for having been flowing to Egypt without benefiting its motherland Ethiopia for the past several centuries. Similarly, the people of Ethiopia regret too much for not doing anything on the ABAY RIVER for the past several centuries. Thanks to Ethiopia’s late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and his party for mobilizing the whole nation to build the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). The GERD is something which no one can stop it. Egyptian politicians are working hard to directly or indirectly destabilize Ethiopia so that they could hinder the construction progress of the GERD or even stop it. Using terrorists like the Al-Shabab of Somalia, failing governments like the one in Eritrea, Ethiopian Opposition Parties (like Gunbot 7, Medrek, Semayawe), Ethiopian rebel groups (like OLF, ONLF, etc.) are some of the indirect ways that Egyptian politicians had vowed to employ in their attempt to create havoc in Ethiopia. Most Egyptian politicians had also stated that they might directly attack the GERD and declare war over Ethiopia. Therefore, the only solution for the Nile waters dispute between Ethiopia and Egypt is “We Ethiopians and our government must be able to speak the same language the Egyptian politicians are speaking. If they need peace, we need peace. If they need war, we must tell them that they have to come and try us”. Our legal right to use the ABAY RIVER in generating electricity, irrigation, fishery, tourism and the like cannot and should not be subject to any form of negotiation. The Colonial Treaties of 1929 and 1959 with regard to the Nile Water (85% of the water in it comes from Ethiopian ABAY RIVER) had already become obsolete.
