My customer this afternoon was retired US Air Force Colonel Robert - TopicsExpress

My customer this afternoon was retired US Air Force Colonel Robert Listou. Col. Listou learned to fly in a PT-17 Stearman in 1943. As his original log book verifies, he learned in Tulare California at the (Tex) Rankin Aeronautical Academy and first soloed in the Stearman on August 13, 1943. He told me today that he was retiring from flying and this was to be his last flight at age 91, and he wanted that flight, his last flight to be in a Stearman, the first airplane he ever flew. Wow, what an honor for me! We took off and I gave him the controls and he flew us around for a while and did some nice wing overs. Then we climbed to 3000 feet for some aerobatics. We did rolls, loops, an Immelmann turn, Cuban 8, hammer head stall, spins and finished up with several barrel rolls and wing overs over the Flying Circus air field. He was one happy guy when we landed. I endorsed his logbook with the details of the flight and my credentials as a CFI. A great evening of flying!
