My dad, Wayne Emmett, owned this old store across from the school - TopicsExpress

My dad, Wayne Emmett, owned this old store across from the school in the 30s, He and Mother, Faye Riggins married 1/1/1938 living in the back.. I was born 4/10/39.. In this pic is he holding me... During that time the school BURNED; my parents watched it burn in horror.. They got in touch of my grandfather, PM Emmett, on the board of trustees... It was in his mind that school -- was going to be rebuilt -- Mother said.. Well, with the school built back -- we, as students, went over to that store to get our candy & drinks... THEN -- the store BURNED down... At the time, Winburn Crisp ran it... I think I sniffled all that day -- when I saw the ruins, after all, that was my 1st home... Sandwiches were made -- remember, lunchmeat & cheese had to be sliced ready for students -- there was not a lunchroom until -- I started 2nd grade in 1946... It was where Miss Paynes class was on that SE corner.. That store had kids from school in there, as well, as a domino table with the older men.. I think of Grady Stowe --- Anyway, I hope this old store picture will bring back memories... REMEMBER no day ends -- if it makes a memory I hope to hear from you
