My dad and I were fortunate enough to see Pedro Martinez pitch at Fenway Park in 03, when he threw seven shutout innings in a win against the Blue Jays. Hes the best pitcher Ive ever seen in person. That of course was after the shoulder injury, after the three years from 98 through 00 when Pedro was Pedro, the bad, bad man with three unhittable pitches that bewildered nearly every batter in an era when offense was king. There was nothing like watching Pedro during that stretch. Every game was appointment TV. Every time out, there was a chance he could throw a no-hitter or strike out nearly everyone like he did in the video below against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium in the heat of a pennant race, the single greatest pitching performance Ive ever watched. Congrats to Pedro, the best pitcher I ever saw, on his election to Cooperstown.
