My dad was a handy footballer in his teens and twenties and even played for Liverpool Youth Team for a year. So when he went to see Gerry and the Pacemakers in concert he had a pretext for inviting Gerry Marsden back to our house for a drink. Gerry is famous for the song you`ll never walk alone which became the anthem of Liverpool FC. I was Liverpool mad in my youth, but was also mad at my dad at not waking me up and bringing me downstairs to meet him. I wonder what Gerry would have thought of 95,000 Aussies singing his song with passion at the start of a pre-season friendly in July this year. The singing starts at 4.00. It brought tears to my eyes: youtube/watch?v=5iLL57puZPM
