My daughter Maya and I drove up to the parking lot at my local Western Union office in town the other day.I had just pulled up into my parking spot and turned off the car when I noticed a middle aged woman...long blond hair,elegant dress suit and business like look...storming out of the office shouting something at the clerks. I stopped and paid attention to her words..becoming attentive to what was happening.It took me a minute to understand what was the commotion but I finally heard some of her aggressive words with complete dismay. She was shouting...loudly and violently, racial slurs at one of the clerks. I sat calmly in my car and listened to her spewing of vicious words to anyone who would hear... YOU MEXICANS SHOULD GET THE F**** OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!!!!YOU ARE HERE TO STEAL OUR JOBS AND OUR MONEY!! WE DONT NEED YOU HERE!! GET THE F**** OUT!!!!!ALL OF YOU PEOPLE THINK WE HARD WORKERS NEED YOUR KIND IN OUR BELOVED UNITED STATES??? YOU MEXICANS HAVE TAKEN OVER AND ALL YOU BLACKS AND MUSLIMS ALSO!! GET OUT!! GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!! I sat in the car and looked over at Mayas shocked and frightened facial expression. I caught sight of her eye and just silently reassured her with serenity as to calm her fears. She asked that we leave but I was there with a purpose and would not have this woman change my plans because of her insanity. I told Maya to stay still and calm. So the woman continued her rant..as we looked on. She finally turned around and saw us sitting in the car and decided to lash out at us as well.... AS FOR YOU TWO BLACKS.. GO BACK ALSO!!!AMERICA WILL BE A MUCH BETTER PLACE WITHOUT YOU!! ALL OF YOU LEAVE OUR HOME TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE THE BEGINNING!!! GET OUT!! I just stared at her eyes with absolute calm but attentive and ready for ANYthing....I wanted her to feel my firm and strong Energy...I would NOT be manipulated by her anger or fear.... She turned around and walked to her brand new SUV...still screaming terrible words at us...started the car and raced off. I walked into the office to find all the clerks terribly shaken and upset. The manager spoke on the phone with the owner of the office and explained that this was a well known and respected business owner in town.She had become upset by the other clerk who had informed her that her paperwork was not complete,therefore she could not process her request at that time. It infuriated her.The clerk apologized to me for having to witness such a revolting scene and proceeded to process my paperwork.As she did this,I caught sight, from the corner of my eye,a young woman sitting at the back of the office at her desk...her head lowered..her eyes staring at the floor and her face a bright red despite her deep brown skin.She tried desperately, in my opinion,to make herself invisible..... I placed my hand on the clerks hand who was helping me and asked if I could go around the counter and hug the young woman in the back. Her eyes grew wide and she told me.. Of Course!!! Alicia...(she said turning around) this client wishes to give you a hug!! I walked over to the other side of the counter...walked slowly to her desk and reached out my arms to her. She hugged me..held onto my back...placed her head on my chest and let go of all the tears she had held inside..I caressed her beautiful straight black hair and held her close...allowing all of the pain to release itself. I said to her.. Mama...Let it all out...It is not good to hold in pain and anger....Let us pray for this poor spirit..this poor woman. She is mentally Ill as ALL those who are Racists are! Racism is the outcome of severe mental illness,Mama...It is hard but let us be compassionate,ok? I know well how you feel... We go through this everyday in some shape or form..We have seen our families suffer through this so much and it is so painful!! I am a Black and Latina woman..and I KNOW what this pain is like everyday.YOU are my favorite clerk here. You are a good ,efficient worker and always have such a beautiful smile! DONT let ANYone take your Power away from you....Always HOLD FIRM to WHO you are!No llores mas,Hermanita.... Mucha Fuerza siempre!! She looked at me ,wiped away her tears and smiled. I smiled back and held her hand tight.She told me her family had been here for many generations...maybe even longer than that ladys family... It was unfortunate to STILL be seen as an outsider because of the color of her skin.I understood well what she felt... for I saw this with my own parents who were deeply Spiritual,hardworking, law abiding citizens who were constantly attacked for being an interracial AND foreign couple. I saw my Mama be openly bashed as a Latina Black woman with terrible racial slurs.And my own Life experience has shown me the severity of Racism to the Spirit as I have had my own children called Monkeys and Niggers... I have, unfortunately, learned how to navigate through its destructiveness and demeaning nature as a tactic of survival in this day and age.What of those who are abused by the system and attacked consistently for their skin color or race?It is a deeply disturbing way to face your daily struggles in this Life.I have seen and experienced this too often and pray deeply to always choose the Way of Compassion.... As I looked at my daughter Maya when we were in the car driving home, I cringed at the reality she would still face constantly in this country as a woman of color. I wished to shelter her and protect her from this harsh world...yet...there is truly No way to do that but arm her with education and a CLEAR Mind to soar higher than what many wish for Us. It is a sad and Painful Reality to accept...and it is my Hope that this New Generation will reach these Higher Heights of Clarity and Peace...and that they may transmute this Mental Illness that has permeated so many Hearts and Minds for so long, into a New and Powerful Truth.... IT IS TIME!!! We can NO LONGER live in this stagnant and putrid Reality...It is Time for a Shift of Monumental Proportions..if we wish to continue as a Race.ALWAYS do YOUR part! DO NOT stand by and watch the insanity of this matrix play out.. YOU are a Healer...YOU are capable of Great Change...If You are called upon for Healing..then Do so...The Time for apathy is No more....CALL upon Peace...Truth and LOVE!! It is TIME to LET GO of Fear......May the Ancestors uplift and guide Us into a NEW Reality....AND SO IT IS!!!
