My day has been sad and in a way, a learning experience. My neighbors husband of 65 yrs is very ill and having seizures and most likely wont make it through the night. She came and got me and I went over there and I wanted to drive her to the hospital, but she said she was going with the ambulance and her kids were meeting them there. We hugged and cried and off they went. Jimmy and I have said so many times how we never wanted to be a burden to one another. And most people that have been together for awhile say that too. I came inside and 10 min later there was a knock on my door. It was her son and daughter inlaw. They said where did Mom and Dad go? I said they just left in the ambulance. They both looked at each other and said..Dad said he wanted to die at home and she was supposed to stay put till we got here. Ya know, we say a lot of things, but when it comes down to that moment...R we really ready to let go of them? Shes not ready to say goodbye...
