My dear Bajans, all these cheap things in pricesmart and cost u less that are imported are not as great as we seem to think. Nuff chemicals, unnecessary sugar and preservatives but because it comes from away we are welcoming them. We need to be growing food and reducing our import bill. Not everything imported is great, good or necessary and we are always getting overcharged for food that gets imported because we are paying the travel cost, so just because something is expensive doesnt mean it is good quality, just that it came from far. Allot of American cheap crap food is expensive here and we are viewing that NONSENSE as delicacies. That said, many small businesses need to step their game up and give good service because as a person who is constantly shopping for work it is indeed easier to go pricesmart than to call a man 6 times to ask where your chicken is. The big stores have their place but supporting local small business is what will save Barbados in the long run and eating fresh, homegrown food can save your health. Yes i realise I have touched two separate topics.
