My dear Coach, I listened and took notes from this message - TopicsExpress

My dear Coach, I listened and took notes from this message about three (3) months ago but it took another message by Bishop TD Jakes ‘Instinct to Increase’ to draw my attention to it again. The man of God taught from the same text and for deeper and better understanding, I had to refresh my mind by going over my note on the LAW OF INCREASE which I didn’t prepare a summary on. That going-over exercise is what has resulted in this summary. THE LAW OF INCREASE (Matthew 25:14 – 30) Life is all about increase or process. Everything we do is to foster increase or to facilitate growth. We are born equals but we are not equally endowed. Some people are more endowed than others, God made it so. Bishop TD Jakes puts it like this, “God gives you gifts according to your strength or capacity not according to your neighbor’s capacity. So whatever God gives you, it’s because he knows you can handle it; you have the capacity to put that thing to work”. But the bottom line is that we are all born with a peculiar gift. God rewards people according to the percentage of resources he has given you that you are able to exploit. In other words, God’s reward system is on the basis of your output measured against your input. This implies that the one who gave more from less is greater than the one who gave average from more. Let me illustrate this further; if the servant with five talents produced three more to have a total of eight, even though his eight talents surpasses that of the guy that added two to his two to have four, he has performed below his capacity. This is because if we consider them both on God’s reward system (output vs input), the five talent guy produced less than 100% while the two talent guy had a 100% return on investment (ROI). That explains why Jesus commended the widow who gave so little but expended her capacity. This is why you should never compare yourself with others; we are not here to run the same race; we are not here to accomplish the same objectives. If you measure your accomplishments by others’, you will be frustrated in life. To whom much is given is given, much is required. Olakunle Soriyan, public speaker and life coach explains success thus, “success is measured by what is achieved compared to what could have been achieved”. Therefore we must note that the blessing is not in what you have but in the deployment and the use of what you have. To the extent you engage the resources that God has given you is what will determine your earning. The talents, resources and opportunities you were born with are a function of the capacity that God installed in you when you were born. The trust is we are all born champions. There’s something you were born with that nobody on the surface of the earth has. The value of what you have is not determined by your perspective but by the perspective of the giver. God rewards you according to what you’ve done with what he has given you. Every opportunity, resource, time, experience and grace that God makes available to you, share it with people. Your ability to empty yourself in what God has given you is your key to wealth. You need to discover, develop and deploy what God has given you. That is what attracts wealth to you. It’s a principle (eternal constant) and God honors principles. The things you were born with were given to you by God in order to accomplish your purpose in life; all the resources, opportunities and talents were given to you to help you accomplish the assignment or solve the problem you were born into this world to solve. To be successful, you must discover the gift of God in your life. The moment you discover it, the resources and connections you need will come to you. What is keeping you and why you are suffering is because there’s an assignment you came to this world to solve and you have not located it. Every talent that God has given you that you refuse to use will become judgement to you. It’s very clear from the scriptures we are discussing. Whatever God has given you, even if it is not popular, hold it and develop it. I learnt something extra from Bishops TD jakes I think is worth sharing. Listen to the unfaithful servant Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.” This servant didn’t know the Master better than the other servants. The other servants also had their fears about the Master most likely but they buried their fears and exposed their talents while the unfaithful servant buried his talent and exposed his fears. This is what separates winners from losers; champions from complainers; extra-ordinary people from ordinary people; ACEs from the crowd. Actions I need to take immediately: • For the gifts I’ve identified so far, I must take deliberate steps to develop and use them no matter how unpopular they may appear. • I must discover exhaustively all the deposits of divinity in me as much as possible. • I must continue to capitalize on opportunities and platforms that God brings my way to serve others with my gifts, time, resources and experience. • I must follow the faithful servants’ example by burying my fears and exposing my talents. A wise man said a courageous man is afraid like everyone else but only he knows. I must be a man of courage, able to look my fears in the eye and defy them. Changes I must make: • Use the correct yardstick in evaluating myself i.e. output vs input or achieved success vs possible success. • I must vehemently resist every temptation to compare myself with others. It actually makes no sense because you will end up comparing your weakness with someone’s strength. It’s like racing with other drivers while on a journey meanwhile you have different destinations. It really makes no sense! Thank you Sir. You are a gift to me Sir and I appreciate you. Chuma Eziashi.
