My devotional reading and meditation on BEING ACCOUNTABLE: Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. (1 Timothy 3:14, 15 NIV) Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV) Keep a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. (1 Peter 3:16, 17 NIV) Accountability enables us to share our lives with one another in a deep and introspective way. Not only does it provide a system of checks and balances to protect us from harmful behavioral practices, but It also allows us to be answerable to one another, focusing on key relationships where we can open up, share, and be challenged in an atmosphere of trust. We must regularly face the truth about our actions and attitudes and examine whether we are still in line with the will and the call of God for lives. When we are accountable, we can give an answer for what we do and understand, where we need help in areas of our weakness so that we can be encouraged. It helps us to stay on track, get prayer, care, and support when we fail. This helps us to get to know ourselves and others in a deeper manner. Even though most of our relationships in life tend to be casual and superficial, we need deep connections; that is what God has made us for. Remember that the goal of accountability is our spiritual formation which is Christian maturity, growth, and character building derived from God working in us through others. No one is an island, life was never designed for lone rangers!!! If you dont believe me check on these: 1. Adam & Eve Gen 3:8-19 2. Nathan & David 2Samuel 12:1-14 3. Saul & Samuel 1 Samuel 13: 8-14 4. Jesus and Peter Matthew 16:21-23 Stay bless friends as you choose to be accountable from here onwards. It is for your own good. My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. (Proverbs 3:1, 2, 4, 7, 8 NIV)
