My earlier post about the Faginesque attitude of the BCCI stands - TopicsExpress

My earlier post about the Faginesque attitude of the BCCI stands vindicated. T20 was an event at the recently concluded Asian Games, and almost certainly a Gold medal event for India. Yet India didnt take part. Why? Because the BCCI deemed it unnecessary, for the 2nd time in a row! Too busy to send even a second string team to the Asian Games Mr. Srinivasan?? Too busy, because there is no money to be won in the Asian Games, which is all about honour, guts and glory, sadly the very ideals that a sporting body should strive to uphold. No, the BCCI and its frontline cricketrs were busy playing club cricket to line their already gilded pockets. I have not only lost respect for Indian cricket, but for MS Dhoni and other senior cricketers like Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, Kumble and others. Where is your voice? Can none of you Greats stand up and advocate that a second string team should be sent (seeing that Dhoni and his ilk are contracted to play the Champions League)? This hurts me as a Dhoni and Sachin fan. This doesnt detract from my respect for their achievements. India is struggling on the world stage when it comes to international sports. We have literally a handful of sportspersons who have secured gold at these Asian Games, so every medal opportunity counts. These are the heroes who bring glory and honour to the country, WITHOUT the aid of multi-million dollar deals, brand ambassador status or recognition. The fact that Dhoni can galvanize an entire team to vacate a hotel over a plate of biryani and yet he stays mum about India not being represented at the Asian Games is pathetic. The BCCI is a business, a corporation and I think the Indian National Cricket Team should no longer be termed sportspersons, but employees of the Corporation. So CSK and the Indian team have lost a supporter and a viewer, but I dont think they give a damn. It doesnt matter if it does to them. However, I have principles and I would rather sit in the bleachers and wave my flag and cheer on the Indian Football Team or wrestlers, or the Indian hockey Team (men & women), or a host of other battling sportspeople than support a Corporation of leeches and its employees. sports.ndtv/asian-games-2014/news/230887-bcci-interested-only-in-business-olympic-council-of-asia
