My early 2011 Macbook Pro bit the dust yesterday. It wouldnt turn - TopicsExpress

My early 2011 Macbook Pro bit the dust yesterday. It wouldnt turn on for a business meeting. Later at home, it did boot up but randomly rebooted. Ive reset PRAM/VRAM, booted into Safe Mode to turn off the graphics acceleration, did a Disk Repair and forced Spotlight to re-index. This morning the battery shows as dead (the laptop has been plugged in for all of this drama). It seems to have stopped randomly rebooting but is taking hours to prepare a Time Machine backup. Im manually backing up my files now just in case the HD is also fried. After 3 years of babying this computer (as a UI/UX Designer, its my bread & butter), Im writing this message on my 7 year old Macbook Pro that the 2011 model replaced. I dont have Apple Care, which would have expired by now anyway. So Im asking yall, what is the easiest and most cost effective way to get my MBP repaired? Has anyone had luck yet contacting Apple to get the defective parts replaced? Im in Vancouver, Canada, with two Apple stores nearby. Thanks in advance.
