My (elderly neighbors) Emma and Stella rode with me to the general store. I needed to fill up my SUV, lots of errands tomorrow and Friday. Stella wanted to pick up a six-pack of Dr. Pepper. Emma a pint of Ben and Jerrys Half-Baked ice cream. The store parking lot was mid-afternoon busy. Lots of truckers stopping in for gasoline. Other cars, too. The ladies had to cut through the island between the pumps to avoid traffic. Stella went through just fine. But Emma caught her toe on the raised curve. She pitched forward. I saw her going down, but was pumping gas and too far away to make a grab for her. I swear, one of the truckers across from us at the gas pump had Flash in him. For a husky man, he sure moved fast. Hed finished filling his dump truck, was climbing in to leave, when he literally dove to save Emma from taking a fall. He got to her in a split-second of time. He caught her by her sweater sleeve and was able to keep her on her feet. Emma had tears in her eyes. Its scary for anyone to fall, but for an older person its truly frightening. The man was very nice. He let Emma catch her breath, then he walked both Emma and Stella into the store and back while I finished up at the pump. I didnt get his name, but the driver for Garcia Trucking, I thank you!
