My facebook friend Kara Craig posted this today [Dont Believe Everything You Think]; and the words have continued all morning to speak to me. I have no doubt unknowingly wrongly remembered; I am aware of things that people have wrongly remembered of me; there are things I have done that I WISH I could forget; and I am sure that I have done things to others that they WISH they could forget of me. Perhaps the true meaning of Christmas--the true meaning of Christ--is to FORGIVE; Wasnt it Christ who said, Father forgive them; they know not what they do. Perhaps we should add, Father forgive US; we sometimes know not what we do. Perhaps this Christmas, we should ASK FOR FORGIVENESS; and LET GO of how and when we have been wronged. We should quit displaying our hurts like trophies in a case--like notches on a gun belt; and we should just resume a better and healed life. Perhaps this is a good time to not only pray for forgiveness but also a good time to chant The Serenity Prayer. And when we chant, we should not have the attitude that we, in our perfection, were no doubt right all along and that we can now move along, free of guilt. We should chant, asking for the strength to truly be better.
