My faking news (satirical piece) Make Quran and Bible also as the national scripture- Enraged Opposition “We want to maintain the secular fabric of our country, which the government is hell bent on breaking it. So we have decided to pressurize the government in including Quran and Bible also as the national scripture” said the opposition that was outraged by the remarks of minister of foreign affairs Sushma Swaraj. These statements came soon after Sushma Swaraj made a statement asking Bhagwad gita to be declared as the national scripture. She said this after appreciating PM Modi’s gesture of presenting Bhagwad Gita to world leaders. She also stressed the need for a formal announcement to elevate the status of the book to that of a national scripture. Congress leader Digvijay Singh was quick to respond this he said “Rss is behind all this. Modis government is a puppet in the hands of the Rss.” Not just Digvijay Singh, her statement evoked great opposition from various other people too. One notable personality among them was Sagarika Ghose who took to twitter as soon as she learned about this whole story. She tweeted, expressing sadness over this proposal, and said “The beauty lies in Secularism, and the government; if thinks of declaring Holy Gita as national scripture, it should also include other religious holy books” Mulayam singh, Samajwadi party supremo slammed the remarks made by Sushma Swaraj. “Ye bahut hi sharmanak hai, ye sab sampradayik thakatho ko zinda rakh rahe hai, secularism ko khatam karna chahte hai” The opposition has made a strong statement saying that they won’t budge unless and until their demands are met. They called her statement to be communal in nature, and that she is making an attempt to Saffronise the nation. “We will raise this issue in parliament, entire opposition is united in this regard” said Manish Tewari, congress leader, when media asked him about their next move regarding the issue in parliament. --Deepika
