My family and I are getting ready for yet another road trip! H.a. Jabar, Amir and I are traveling to Washington D.C. this week. Amir is excited, this is his second time going to the nations capitol this year. The first time we went to protest at the White House with Shawn Cassiman against the Keystone Pipeline deal. He totally enjoyed himself, we even got a chance to go to the Natural History Museum. This time we will be among dozens of groups from 34 States in the Dignity in Schools Campaign. We will be meeting with several members of congress and Obamas Secretary of Education Secretary Arne Duncan about reforming school discipline nationally. So although he will be missing a week of school (I worked out a deal with his Teacher a month ago to get his school work to complete), he will be getting an education that many children in his school and community will not have the opportunity to get. Who knows he may even take center-stage and speak to a member of congress himself about his school environment. Well see!:)
