My family moved to Lindenwood in 1963. I spent three years at PS 232. 4th grade was Mr. Lewis, 5th grade was Mr. Minkoff (who I still correspond with today) and 6th grade was Mrs. Marder. After June of 1966, my family packed the car and we moved to California. Today I live in Arizona where I have resided these past 25 years. I have two daughters and two granddaughters. (One from each) I was last back in NY in 2008. It was the first trip in many that werent business related. So, I took my wife of 35 years and we visited the much talked about, Lindenwood. Things seemed so much smaller. PS 232s auditorium, the gym, etc. I was terribly disappointed with only Waldbaums remaining from the good ole days. I can honestly say that the time spent in Lindenwood, although brief, evokes more wonderful memories than any other place I have ever been. Does anyone remember the blizzard of Jan 13, 1964? That created a lot of sled time on the side of the Belt Pkwy. I lived at 84th St. and Shore Parkway. Section 9. How about Ozone-Howard little league? Stick ball against the dumpster where a painted strike zone took the place of a catcher and umpire. Oh how I long for those wonderful days of innocence.
