My father and his crew were shot down on this day 70 years ago. On their 23rd mission heading to Munich. They had already been to Ploesti and back TWICE. All of the men, except for one who perished when his parachute didnt open, were captured. My father then went on an 11 month horrific ride as an official POW until General Patton and his 3rd Armored Division liberated the final camp he was in, Stalag Luft 7A in Moosberg, Germany. He then went back to Rutgers University to finish school and his college football career where he was recognized as one of the top fullbacks in the country. I am so proud to be the son of an American Hero. But on top of that he was simply the greatest man I have ever known. Thanks Dad for doing it right. You and Moms love and guidance continue to shape my life and the life of my own family to this day. Whether you fight for our country or are just a man trying to make it in this world, the impact you leave on your children can last through generations. Heres to making the impact a great and positive one. All my best out there and Happy pre-Fathers Day to all the Dads. Lets make a pact to always do it right, for our children.
