My father died today. I am sitting in the backseat of Terry Demers - TopicsExpress

My father died today. I am sitting in the backseat of Terry Demers Hoods car as she drives us home from the hospital. She is our pastor and we would never have made it through this nightmarish week without her steadfast support and boundless compassion. I just want the world to know how fortunate I am to have had Bruce Stewart as my father. He has led an extraordinary life. He helped develop technology that put America on the moon, he stood in the control room in Washington DC when Armstrong set foot there for the first time, he helped run multi million dollar corporations and he once had the honor of escorting Queen Elizabeth II on a tour of a technology company he worked for in England. Yet none of these thing speak to the man he was. He was a man of strong opinions and fierce temper but he was also the kindest, most patient, most gentle man I ever met. The thing that drove him more than anything else was that he wanted to help people. He would help anyone who needed him. Strangers or family. It didnt matter. And he loved me. I always felt safe and cared for every day of my life. He has pulled me out of a million jams. Just a few weeks ago, he rescued me from the side of the road when my car ran out of gas. I always knew he was there for me. And now I have to make sure my loved ones can depend on me the way we always did him. I will try not to let him down. To my friends fortunate enough to have a loving father in their lives... treasure him because things change so quickly. Goodbye, Daddy. You are one of a kind, there will never be anyone else like you and I will never stop missing you.
