My father is the only 1 out of 11 children that decided to leave - TopicsExpress

My father is the only 1 out of 11 children that decided to leave Argentina and live in the US. I was 2 weeks old when I received my first passport and 6 weeks old when I first flew to Argentina. How my parents traveled over 24 hours with a toddler and an infant is beyond me. I was baptized on Feb 14th, 1981 in the Cathedral in San Salvador de Jujuy. During my infancy and toddler years, I would spend months at a time in Argentina and that’s how I learned the language. When I started school, our summer vacations were always spent in Argentina. I have such fond memories of our times there. From huge family asados (BBQs), to watching many World Cups down there and jumping in the streets chanting “El que no salta es un Ingles!” when Argentina beat England in ’98. I’ve ridden horses at a very young age and even fell off of one. I also got hit by a goat three times on my uncles finca (farm) while I was feeding chickens and my father has it on tape (the location of that is unknown). The last time I was there, I dressed up like a Gaucha and rode a horse throughout a parade in my father’s home town. A memory I will never forget. I haven’t been back since over 10 years since work and life happened. I miss my family and everything about the country. This World Cup and all of its excitement has me reminiscing about the best of times I had down there. One day we will be back as a family and I can’t wait to give my children the culture that my parents and family gave me. No matter who wins today, I am proud! Tengo sangre celeste y blanco. La Gaucha esta adentro y quiere salir! VAMOS ARGENTINA!!!! #myworldcup #vamosargentinacarajo
