My father was a fireman in the Navy in WWII. He said he served on the Iowa. I always believed him, but I got his naval records to see what else he might have done. I found he was on the Iowa, but only for a short time as the war was ending. His name is the same as mine. He passed away in 1968. I think he would have loved to see this ship back in action and now as a museum. Its been my favorite ship all my life.
