My fathers ship, HQ to MG John Hodges, who commanded the US Army XXVI Corps during the initial storm landing at Okinawa, and later repulsed the 32nd Japanese Armys counter-invasion on 4 May 45, causing 25,000 casualties (6,000 KIA) - a bit of news lost in the subsequent V-E Day celebrations. The actual book (voluminous photographs) will be available soon, and made available through the Army Heritage and Educational Center, an adjunct of the Army War College, located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
