My favorite contemporary philosopher is Woody Allen because he entertains us while he philosophizes - a feat not achieved by Socrates, Plato et al. Oscar Wilde from an earlier era - had similar capabilities. I dont want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve it through not dying. I wish the others had waxed eloquent in a similar manner - we would have remembered their philosophies more than their names.
