My favorite religious Christmas song, sung by the incomparable Pavarotti. His voice itself was a gift from God. RIP... Paravottis voice does not sound as if it emanates and originates from a mere human being. Rather it sounds like a vast resonant instrument made of soaring, aged oak timbers, joined with great silver trusses, and festooned everywhere with ivory flourishes - and the whole animated by an enormous leather bellows. It is the music of eternity, and one can imagine it rising, solid and serene, up to the heavens, causing the angels to still their fluttering wings and weep from its sheer beauty.
