My first Write-up attempt. :D The below write-up may seem amateur as its my first one. Warning: Lengthy. So, only serious readers are recommended to spare their patience. CINEMA - A Visual Universe: Well, To begin..I was never a movie buff in my entire life except for the past 3 years. But, if Id watch a movie, Id make sure it wasnt a commercial cinema (Ive never been a fan of commercial films). Unknowingly, I started my Cinema journey with The Shawshank Redemption and gradually caught the ladder through it. After few months, I fell in love with World Cinema, A love which Id never let go. It has taught me so much. I started watching as many movies as I could besides being held up in my Art profession. I made it from A movie a week to A Movie a day. I started meeting film buffs and wanna be film-makers. I was suggested some gem of movies by them. I started researching about some legendary Film-makers. I was slowly pulled by the curiosity I grew about the Art of Cinema. It had so much gravity. It taught me history. I was then introduced to Roman Polanski films. The first (European backdrop) World War 2 movie I had seen was The Pianist. It had a huge impact on me. It had planted a seed of philosophy towards mankind that I never had. I crawled through the whole War genre and watched fifties of WW2 movies. To reconfirm the historical accuracy, I got hold of many Jewish writers and European stories about the WW2. I was fascinated to hear multiple versions towards the war from different perspectives. I really wonder and realize that WW2 was a mass event which changed the history and I still believe that after 70 years of its end, it surely has its impact on many lives and countries even today. It grew upon me so much that, I started planning a dream journey to all the places where WW2 happened. I felt the agony those people had gone through during the war times. I got to know these things through a beautiful thing called Cinema. Besides this, Im an ardent fan of biographical movies. It all started with the first biographical movie I had seen of Howard Hughes by Martin Scorsese staring Leonardo DiCaprio. It introduced me to a New genre, A legendary Film-Maker and one gem of an actor (all those who turned out to be my favorite now). I started reading about great personalities who had played a crucial role in history. I began to research on them, gathered articles, read memoirs, tried to feel what they felt about whats this life is all about. After all this, I came back to the heart of a Film-Maker. It is all their Passion, Hard work, Philosophy on life and mankind they follow and Vision on what they wanted to achieve on-screen which made me feel hard to stand still at one place. Reading about those Great personalities is an absolute life changing thing. It inspired me a lot to pursue what I wanted. I always feel that, they didnt only win their time but also carried forward their message to the future that Learning is a timeless thing like cosmos . You live 500 years learning and there are millions of years left still. Its just the horizon you see which makes you feel Perfect. But, the truth is, There nothing called as Perfection, My friend! Learn as much as you can. I thank God that I got to learn so much from movies itself. You dig it and it goes on without an end. I continue to look forward for many masterpieces from the masters. To the every film-Maker and Wanna bes in this world, This is for you. Your endless love and effort towards cinema is keeping us off mainstream and Inspiring the creative side of our brains. I know its too lengthy to read and Ive toured into many boring things. But, I thought its my way to pay my respects to all of you who are involved in the process of making a cinema come alive. My heartfelt prayers to all the WW2 victims. We can never imagine a tragedy like you all had witnessed. Thank you. P.S. I again watched The Shawshank Redemption today. And I must say, it had a complete different impact on me than it did on my first watch. Felt more connected to the philosophy of hope and freedom. I guess Ive got a matured mind now. :) Suresh Kumar Praveen Navulluri
