My first day at the Frankfurt Book Fair was rewarding but quite tiring. Its such an enormous event with thousands of stands, people, happenings and presentations. Virtually anyone whos anyone in publishing and media is there. Each Halle is like an enormous aircraft hanger divided up into never-ending corridors peopled with hundreds of stands, books, video displays and colourful gimmicks. Halle 4.2 is a whole area just for educational publishers and thats where I spent most of the day. One of the corridors is inhabited by someone in a blue Bugs Bunny suit who makes comic gestures at passers-by... Good to see the demo animation Young Digital Planet have created around my Colours Under the Sea song and now were now talking about a lot more work. Exciting and daunting at the same time! I also met the people from Portàl, the Prague-based publisher that has just released a FunSongs book for the Czech market. More meetings tomorrow before leaving for Riga. I was also glad to see Tony Forrester at the ELB Stand. He distributes the FunSongs CDs and first put me in touch with Portàl a year ago. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
