My first, only, and last experience with Citi Bike: paid for renting two, and for some reason the codes would not release the bikes from their stations. We tried again, and again, and again. We asked for assistance from another Citi-biker, who was a regular user. She too was baffled. Called Citi Bike and they, too, had no explanation. They did however have a sort of nasty and very unhelpful attitude, and then informed us that the rental fee - $20.00 - and the "hold fee" - $200.00 - would remain on hold for a week. So not only did we not get the bikes (nor any help or sympathy from Citi Bike), but they STILL have my $220.00. I happen to need that $220.00. Citi Bike can suck it.
