My first purple Iris attica flowering at the moment. While the purple flowering form is true to its color, the yellow form turned out almost white with a somewhat burgundy colored fall. The yellow form however should be true too, as they are clones from yellow flowering irises collected in Cape Sounion, Greece. There is a lot of discussion found on the web, about discoloring from yellow to white within the tall bearded Iris germanica, and pallida too. Most of the discoloring is said to be caused by crossing between different forms. However, in this case I think the result of discoloring seem to be caused by environmental factors, like temperature and light intensity. Others have the same experience?
