My first time carving wood !Started on patch box lid of my 64 cal. Getman Pistor style Jaeger .I fugured if I screwed up on 0atch box lid, I could make another. I am doing a tribute to ancient Cultures From Native Americans,t Arctic, Nothwest coast and Latin American pre columbian tribes on thos rifle I have carved antler, bone, horn and stone but I was a little intimidated by thought of carving wood .Also I have always carved 3 D objects never raised relief .I started this 4 nights ago .Thoughtvi hated wood first to nights ! Got some more carving done on the Jaeger tonight Starting to get figured out which toool works for what task ! I no longer hate wood for carving medium .Its still not my favorite but Im really enjoying carving the patch box lid , Cant wait to get home and start each evening ! About done with the Haida Bearman and tonight I was inspired by a. Plains indian rock painting of an antelope in one of my archeolgy books so this became another part of my carving Tribute to Ancient Cultures on 64 cal. Jaeger flintlock !.Starting to look pretty sharp , Im excited to get back after it tomorrow !
