My friend, Deborah Lewakowski Habel, volunteers at the Detroit office of the Accounting Aid Society to field calls from City of Detroit Pensioners regarding their Applications for Income Stabilization Payments. These are adjustments to prevent certain pensioners from falling below the federal poverty level after the bankruptcy-driven City Pension cuts take effect. Great work, Deb! (You are such a gift to so many, I know...). If anyone with accounting skills would like to, additionally, help out, I bet Deb could hook you up...
