My friend Jeff came by today and had a little time to kill so we decided to play a scenario from Commands & Colors: Ancients. We chose the Battle of Nemea, a battle from the Corinthian War between Sparta and their allies and an anti-Spartan coalition from Athens, Thebes, Corinth, and Argos. We chose this battle because Hoplite battles such as this tend to play quickly. There is no terrain to set up, and very few skirmishers running around with javelins trying to soften up the enemy. The lines of Hoplites close and smash each other to bits. We picked out the scenario, set it up, and played it out in less than an hour. I won with the Spartans.
