My friend Tom Bean shared this insightful piece by Prince Ea this morning. Im grateful for the technologies that allow me to remain connected with family and friends in spite of constraints of time and distance, yet am painfully aware that at the same time, they are dramatically diminishing the intimacy of human interaction! As seen in this video, all too often we fail to appreciate the direct communication/connection for something distant! Even as we speak directly with one another, we must learn to communicate more effectively!!! Non-verbal communication is as/or more important than the spoken word! Learning to listen intently both to the visual as well as verbal message; recognizing that pauses can often be the most revealing message exchanged, that eyes can be the window to the soul! Warmth, tenderness, understanding, are communicated through attentive non-distracted focused communication! The person with whom you are communicating, should be the most important person in the room!!!
