My godsister Samapriya Devi Dasi expresses it wonderfully! Old Age Where is that orator self, certain of words so eloquently composed? Old age, you have struck me in the gut. And though the desire to glorify the Lord still keeps me safe, I feel I am being drained of all shakti, like an old tree whose leaves can no longer hold on tight nurtured by the juice of life, but fall away floating in the gentle breeze. Robbed of my youth, this villain old age pushes me into a corner where I feel alone. She cannot be defeated, this disease which breaks down everything and has no cure. All the coverings which I depended upon to know who I am, are crumbling away like dust. You, my Lord have stripped me naked and there is nothing left. I stand alone with my heart in hand and present it to you. But alas, You have been merciful to me. Though scarred by brutal attachments which You are ripping away one by one, I am being forced to abandon all the shelters of this material world and false identity of myself. There is nothing left but You, oh treasure of my heart. I cannot proclaim a list of accomplishments in this life. What is my legacy? What can I offer the world? I have been blessed by Your pure unalloyed devotee- AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. Out of his causeless mercy, he accepted me as his disciple. He is my link binding me to You and my path bringing me to You.
