My good friend on facebook David Jesus Follower Cooke, which I love reading and following his post, posted this with the following comments: Dear friends read this and it will be very helpful !! Many say judge not lest be judged and take it out of context as though we cannot judge false doctrine , false teachers and sin the the church ! DARE TO SHARE ! We are not to sit idly by when we see personal spiritual revelations change God’s Word. If men and women cannot hold to the core doctrines and instead make up new revelations or interpret the Scripture from their dreams, visions, visitations from angels or saints we are to point out this is unbiblical teaching. SAID THIS-In every single case the Bible says not to judge, it is in the context of judging in hypocrisy or with the wrong motive. Oftentimes the principle being addressed is judgment out of a self righteous heart. People love to misquote those scriptures out of context to avoid accountability. The Bible is very clear that those who confess Christ as their Lord are to be held accountable. GREAT POINT BROTHER. Phil.1:9And this I pray ,that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment. VERY SIMPLE YOU JUST CANNOT LET SIN RUN RAMPANT IN THE CHURCH OR EVERY KIND OF STRANGE DOCTRINE-Very foolish and dangerous to do so and to misapply Judge not lest be judge is being very ignorant of the scripture ! John 7:24 Jesus said: “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment”, so we see Jesus did tell us to judge. If you say something in a public forum and not in private we have every right to point out that which is obvious error and a distortion of the character of God in public.Whether in sermon ,DVD, T.V. interview , website ,face book ,You Tube we must have a zeal for Truth even if others will condemn us as being mean and unloving. What she said is the subject of this post. When I was a pastor in Barbados I told them not just to believe it because your pastor taught it but search the scriptures diligently and search them daily. This type of encouragement is lacking and people accept anything even when contrary to the Truth. If anything goes then there is no reproof or correction or righteous judgment and the absolute truth of inspired scripture has ceased to by our standard of belief and conduct. This is not bashing this is correction of error that can lead many astray, and that is true love that will not be silent. And if you hear something in your church you have every right to talk to the leaders it you see it as obvious error and do it with a right humble spirit. Amen and thank you friends for your comments because we live in a day of much tolerance of sin and false teaching in the church and to many are silent and afraid to confront sin ,evil and false teachings. Casey Borne added comment: I wrote on this subject before. Ill re-post it here. I like how the Greek really displays vividly whats being said. In every single case the Bible says not to judge, it is in the context of judging in hypocrisy or with the wrong motive. Oftentimes the principle being addressed is judgment out of a self righteous heart. People love to misquote those scriptures out of context to avoid accountability. The Bible is very clear that those who confess Christ as their Lord are to be held accountable. Lets look at what the Bible says about judging....I will include the original Greek definitions. 1Thessalonians 5:21, Prove ALL things; hold fast that which is good. (Prove) - dokimazo¯ - to test, allow, discern, examine, prove, try. John 7:24, Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. (Judge) - krino¯ - Properly to distinguish, that is, decide (mentally or judicially); by implication to try, condemn, punish: - avenge, conclude, condemn, damn, decree, determine, esteem, judge, go to (sue at the) law, ordain, call in question, sentence to, think. Eph 5:11,13 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them......But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. (Reprove) - elegcho¯ - to confute, admonish: - convict, convince, tell a fault, rebuke, reprove. 2Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. (Rebuke) - epitimao¯ - censure or admonish; by implication forbid, an expression of strong disapproval or harsh criticism. So as you can see we are told to judge, rebuke and exhort, but it is to be in the right motive which is love. Love tells the truth and the truth hurts. Pro 27:5-6 Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Pro 6:23 ...reproofs of instruction are the way of life...
