My good pal Chowdhury Tanzim Karim nominated me to name 10 of my most favorite actors and actresses. I do not watch much TV, and even lesser movies. But when I did, some actors and actresses have left a mark in me. Given is a list of 10 such people, in no particular order: 1. Jack Nicholson, for that frightening rendition of The Joker in the first Batman movie, which gave a face to evil in my head as a child and gave me nightmares for several nights, and also for his remarkably strong and subtle performances in A Few Good Men and As Good as it Gets. 2. James Spader, for making me laugh and cry countless times as Alan Shore on Boston Legal, who is one of my all-time favourite characters on TV. 3. Nicolas Cage, for his haunting performance in Face/Off as both the protagonist and antagonist of the same movie. 4. Dominic Cooper, for his performance in The Devils Double for the same reasons as Nicolas Cage. 5. Will Smith, for being in Men in Black, and for being In Pursuit of Happiness. 6. Vidya Balan, for her versatile performance in Noone Killed Jessica and for her fiery performance in Bhool Bhulaiyaa. 7. Salman Shah, for being amazing in the darkest hours of Bangladeshi films. 8. Matthew McConaughey, for being able to ace any role from The Lincoln Lawyer to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days to The Wolf of Wall Street to Dallas Buyers Club. 9. Charlize Theron, for her demonic performance in Monster. 10. Daniel Day Lewis, for being the best method-actor there is. Argh. Too many notable misses. I nominate Shameema N A Mallik and Allahditta Khan Shanto to list their top 10 actors and actresses.
