My great aunt Johanna,a teacher of Home Economics and a bit of a rebel according to my grandmother,suffered this fate and although I never met her,I often think of her.One of her çrimes apparently was to tell neighbours that blocking out the windows with black curtains during air raids was useless since the bombers had means to see where the houses where anyhow.Obviously a sign of mental instabilty.My mother had a lucky escape.She was arrested at a dairy outlet in Breslau ,Molkerei Kugland,for not saying Heil Hitler upon entering the shop.She was reported and arrested and let go after a night in a holding cell.
