My heart broke as I watched the video of Eric Garner. How on earth did that not warrant an indictment?! There have been a few cases of alleged police brutality that have come up where I have felt that the public response was clearly indicative of a larger issue but that the specific cases being spotlighted through protests and in the media were not clear-cut enough or that the officer was arguably not in the wrong, but THIS was their chance! We have video showing very clear-cut and unnecessary brutality where an indictment could have started the ball rolling to change the culture of law enforcement without wrongly indicting somebody as a scapegoat and they blew it! I was going to say something about how disappointing that is, but disappointing is the wrong word. This is a devastating blow for our society.
