My heart has not been this sadden since the loss of my Nana many years ago. The Lady Pearl has left us here and gone to the biggest drag show of them all. I still remember that chilly night in November, the first time I laid my eyes on the extraordinary MC an entertainer know as The Lady Pearl. She was in that green beaded fringe thigh length dress performing Rockin Chair by Gwen McCrae. She owned that stage and I just watched in amazement as she worked the crowd. After her song was done she then proceeded to slay the audience with her wicked tongue bringing the crowd to their knees with laughter. I knew at that point she was someone special. Then less than two years later she invited me to join her cast after an open audition. I was ecstatic know I was gonna be one of the Lady Pearls gurls. The stories she has shared with me and all the great times we had together are gonna live in my heart forever. She not only was a good friend, but a mentor, and will always be with me every time step onto a stage. She taught myself and so many others how to be confident, be proud of who and what you are. Now I am in tears, writing this out thinking how much she has molded me into the person I am today. I love you Pearl. Your legacy and your memory will live on.
