*My heart is broken, my beloved dog is dead, and I do not want this happening to another person/family.* Many of you know the story about Blizzard and followed it during his hospitalization. I decided to write the story to educate others on Wagging Tails Pet Sitting Service and my experiences with this company. Please pass this on if you would like to. I thought it was important to share this information in hopes of this never happening to another family. I may get criticism for choosing them again, but its worth it to me to warn others and protect other animals. Those who know me know that I foster dogs, I pet sit for other dogs in addition to my full time corporate job. I adore animals and this was a terrible tragedy. **My beloved dog Blizzard died under Wagging Tails Care***. Yes, I sad died. Please Read Before Hiring Wagging Tails Pet Sitting /Grooming Service! It’s been several weeks since a horrific accident that caused the death of my beloved dog Blizzard occurred under the care of Wagging Tails Pet Sitting Service –which services Southington, Cheshire, and Bristol, CT. Their website is waggingtails . I debated as whether or not to post my experience on various sites, but I feel I have a moral obligation to let people know of my experience and then they can make their own decision on whether or not to use this service. I feel a tremendous amount of guilt about Blizzard’s death, because I had a horrible experience with Wagging Tails several years ago. Several years ago the person doing the sitting consult forgot to add on days communicated to her to my dog Bailey’s visit schedule. I came home from being away to find my dog Bailey covered in urine and feces, no water/food and I thought to myself “he could have died”. I was so upset that I tried lodging a complaint with the local Southington Chamber of Commerce, BBB, as well as some pet sitting associations , and of course with Wagging Tails. I grew up in CT, and no longer reside there, but when visiting I sometimes need a pet sitting service. Flash forward to several years later, I again need a pet sitting company in Southington CT & have trouble finding a name of a reliable pet sitting service ( even asked a local vet). Family members were away, and I again find the Wagging Tails website online. The website is newer, the site boasts of numerous Reader Choice awards and positive testimonials everywhere. They flash they are proud members of PSI, local chambers of commerce members, NAPS, etc. I see all of this on their website and make the terrible mistake of giving them another chance. I had an uneasy feeling when meeting with the consult sitter named Lorraine (same woman who made a mistake with Bailey’s schedule years ago), so much so that I asked the manager Danielle to find another sitter for me. I spoke with Danielle about the experience several years back and she put me at complete ease. Danielle was pleasant and told me she would make sure everything went smoothly this time with my 2 dogs Blizzy (Blizzard) & Izzy (Isabella). Blizzard was a diabetic dog and I needed to make sure he was cared for in detail. I left detailed instructions; spoke with Danielle in great length. Danielle actually went on the first visit with the sitter to make sure it went smooth (and called me to reassure me). The evening visit came and the sitter named Blake gave my dog *30* units of insulin versus *3* units he needed. He then did not stay his scheduled hour shift- left right after the shot (you see if he stayed even 5 minutes he would have seen him start to have seizures). My dog suffered a cold, cruel night of seizures. The sitter Blake then did not come at his 6 am shift- he came well after 7 am. I will not go into all the details, but my dog was rushed to the vet (I came rushing home from my trip), and then to a 24 hr. care facility where I prayed and hoped for a miracle for a week. He was brain dead and never came back to me. In addition, I left specific instructions for my other dog Izzy not to be left in her crate with her harness ( she was and chewed it and the huge plastic clips & metal rings and needed to be xrayed to make sure she wasn’t injured). While Wagging Tails did pay for both dogs medical bills, and I did get a nominal fee for Blizzard’s death from their insurance (which I donated to an animal rescue) - I decided in good faith that I could not be silent with my experiences with Wagging Tails. They say this is the first time this has happened, but I am honestly not sure (since I had a previous bad experience). The owner Krista seems to be away when these events have happened to me in the past. I did receive flowers from the company, and genuine apologies. Bottom line, I believe the company does not have any quality control or spot checks in place and they allowed an obviously inexperienced, incompetent, and very irresponsible person to care for my family member and kill him. They assured me they have made changes in policies, but I have never received any confirmation that Blake was fired. My heart is broken, my dog is dead, and I do not want this happening to another person/family. Thank you for reading this, and taking it into consideration/or passing this on.
